Job Description Software Development Team Lead
As an experienced development Project Manager, whilst being highly technical and hands-on capable, you will lead development projects across predominantly, NetSuite, Microsoft .Net and SQL Server based technologies. Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. This will include coordinating business analysts, architects and developers, as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.
Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required being able to support and assist developers at code level. This role offers challenges across a wide variety of projects and responsibilities.
To apply for this role, in addition to having a proven management background you must also have proven technical capability and a track record in software development combined with experience in the leadership of software development teams and delivery of projects within a software development environment. The job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits. Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
Assist in the collection and documentation of user’s requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.
Develop and test across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, including smart phones and tablets.
Work with client services, sales, and the design team, and manage time across multiple projects and tasks in a deadline-driven, team environment.
Participate in discussions with clients and team members about technical best practices and help teams identify optimal technical solutions
Understand Agile methodology and instill best practices into the process.
Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.
Help define project plans requiring software development and hardware installations
Package and support deployment of releases.
Work with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current Microsoft technologies. Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications.
Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget. Provide third-level support to business users.
Research and evaluate a variety of software products.
Define delivery phases of the project including activities, sub-activities, and milestones ensuring these are documented and used as the basis for the project event log, issues and risk log and any subsequent reporting
Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards
Desired Skills & Experience
Prior experience in a technical leadership position for 5+ years apart from 5+ years experience as a Software Developer
College or University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information technology or a related discipline
Experience with web development technologies including ASP.NET, MVC3, JavaScript, AJAX and CSS Experience with database development including relational database design, SQL and ORM technologies
Experience with performing QA tests alongside development.
Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes
Experience in both architecture and implementation-level software design
Experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques and process improvement approaches
A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies
