The Digital platform provides all the tools and services for our Business teams and Customers to work within our Digital processes.
As part of a SAFe Scrum product team, the Lead Product Owner works closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and Architects to help ensure the requested Features are meeting the Strategic blueprint of the products and evangelises the capabilities the products across the whole Digital landscape can offer to drive innovative thinking back into the delivery of the Feature (ensuring fit for purpose design and extra capabilities wherever possible) .
The Lead Product Owner adds this extra value to the overall delivery and is responsible for ensuring the strategic blueprint of a product is aligned with other products for which they are overseeing and works with other Lead Product Owners, Product Owners and Architects to ensure consistency in approach across the whole of the Digital platforms.
The Lead Product Owner utilises their strategic and detailed understanding of a number of the Digital products by supporting product owners in definition of the necessary backlog of user stories and will manage this process for those complex new product areas in which they have direct responsibility.
The Lead Product Owner will work closely with Architecture team in evaluating new technologies to be considered within the strategic product developments and will lead the evaluation process for selection of such technologies.
The Lead Product owner will provide mentoring and coaching for other product owners to ensure maximum re-use of components and services, and strategic alignment from the cross product perspective.
The Lead Product Owner is a subject matter expert of all aspects of the technical solution built across a number of products built over a number of years working within different product teams.
The role is technical facing, global and also includes significant business interaction, as the Lead Product Owner must have a detailed grasp of key Business drivers across a number of areas to present be, relevant and convincing recommendations to all parties for the product development.
Responsibilities:
Ownership of the Strategic Product Blueprint for a number of global product (s) they oversee or for their complex product area
Close Partner with a number of Business and Product Managers to understand the global product vision and provide thought leadership from a product solution perspective across a number of products as input to strategy
Collaborates with architects to align on functional design and technology to be utilised across a number of products within the global solution
Using requested features and architectural direction as input, simplifies the complexity of the desired solution to create the user stories that give clear functional and non-functional direction to development team. This directs the Scrum team in how the product needs to be developed, to ensure technical integrity of the solution is maintained and that the maximum re-use of components and micro-services is delivered. Directly responsible within his complex product and/or mentors other product owners in this task
Owns and maintains the prioritised three month product backlog of user stories that is visible, transparent and aligned with Business priorities and/or supports other product owners to ensure strategic alignment
Responsible for selection process re new technology choices within product areas. Facilitates the process , working with Architects, Product managers, Product owners and development teams to choose appropriate technology in alignment with strategic needs
Accountable for the overall strategic alignment of the products within their area of responsibility and effective overall design across the products for the Business
Supports Scrum master in all Scrum ceremonies to aid effective and timely delivery
Supports the story refinement process so that Scrum team can immediately start on next Sprint of approved stories and thus enable continuous delivery within the Sprint cadence
Takes the lead from a product team perspective in product innovation and creativity, focusing on outcomes and strategic alignment across all products in conjunction with Architecture team
Respected as Product Authority across a number of product areas by all in Scrum team and outside it re Platform capabilities
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
>5 to 8 Years of relevant work experience is required.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Other Education / Certifications: Certified Product Owner
Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.
Able to use common office equipment.
Possesses strong data entry skills.
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.
