Job Description

JD for the SQL Server- patching (B1)

  • Knowledge about SQL Server versions, builds and editions.
  • Knowledge about SQL Server component services like SQL Server service, SQL Agent service, etc.
  • SSMS operating skills (using object explorer, running basic queries like SELECT @@SERVERNAME @@VERSION, etc.).
  • Knowledge about SQL Server databases (system and user) and SQL Server users/logins.
  • Knowledge about types of SQL Server patches like Service Packs, Cumulative Updates, GDRs, etc.; and the patching flow.
  • Knowledge on how to run a patch and processes to follow (permissions to take) and what happens during a patch execution.
  • Basic understanding of logs to check after a patching has been completed or fail
