IT SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER

THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT Network Engineer to join our Global Network Team. Come get your hands on advanced networking systems and bring your ambition, problem-solving ability, analytical mindset and investigative skills.

THE PERSON

You should have some (3-5 years) experience in a paid, professional role, administering corporate networks. Clear and professional communication (written and spoken) is essential to the role.

The schedule is Monday-Friday daytime business hours, though some of the work can be done remotely. Your schedule must allow for off-hours work for things such as planned and unplanned network changes. The planned changes normally occur once a month and could be evenings or on the weekend.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive technical problem resolution of reported incidents and handle escalations from L1 NOC staff or IT teams

Deploy new networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) and assist Global AMD Network Engineering/Architecture team with improving/evolving the designs to meet new requirements.

Work with Global AMD Network Engineering/Architecture Team and other IT teams to complete approved project activities.

Follow established Incident, Change and Problem management processes in order to meet agreed upon SLA’s and propose improvements that can improve resolution time

Understand networking best practices and apply them for both new requests and incidents, using automation wherever possible.

Execute network hardware and software upgrades across the globe to make sure that the network is up-to-date while minimizing network interruptions.

Perform regular network failover testing to validate network redundancy is configured correctly and operational

Occasional onsite support outside regular working hours as required for emergency network incidents or maintenance activities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and investigative skills.

Basic working knowledge in several of the following technologies and domains.

LAN Switching (Cisco IOS, Aruba OS).

Data Center Networking (HP/H3C Comware, Cisco Nexus/ACI, Arista EOS)

Wireless (Aruba Enterprise Solutions).

WAN Routing (Cisco IOS – OSPF, BGP, VRF, SilverPeak SD-WAN).

WAN Acceleration (Riverbed).

Cloud Networking (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle).

QoS across all LAN, WAN, Wireless domains to support Voice and Video.

VPN Remote Access solutions.

DNS/DHCP.

F5 LTM and GTM Load-Balancing.

Network Performance Monitoring.

Certifications or formal training for any of the above domains is desirable.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

Networking-related certifications and training.
