As an Instructional Design Specialist, your role will be to support the learning needs of all employees in Competitive Monitoring (CMT) team.
Amazon (and CMT) has seen rapid growth over the last few years and we plan to keep on growing. This means a lot of new employees to onboard, train, and develop.
In this role, we are looking for an exceptional instructional designer to create and continuously improve learning programs using an array of creative approaches that inspire learners and drive productivity. We are also looking for a team player who not only leverages his/her own team to respond effectively to a variety of training scenarios, but is able to work closely with the rest of the L&D team to effectively prioritize and deploy training programs based on customer need – from training processes at scale to ongoing leader development.
This individual must be self-driven and have the capability and confidence to interface effectively with senior leaders and multiple stakeholders, both face to face (or virtually) and across geographies. In this role, you will be essential to the growth and success of Amazon and our team members.
The candidate must have experience using eLearning and video development tools such as Articulate Studio/Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Connect Captivate and other L&D Tools to be considered for this role.
Key job responsibilities
. Use tools like Articulate Storyline (3, 360 and Rise), Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud and delivery methods to produce blended learning materials promoting learning through self-study, practice, performance support, socialization and knowledge-sharing.
. Create instructionally sound storyboards which act as a blueprint for the final course that are learner-centric and not content-centric.
. Design and develop learning solutions and programs applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design.
. Leverage technology to improve learner access and provide just in time learning.
. Demonstrate a deep understanding of learner roles to ensure that learning solutions meet the needs of stakeholders and end users.
. Maintain knowledge of new learning approaches, technology and tools through continuous research to ensure our solutions deliver innovation.
. Participate in a community of learning professionals to share best practices and identify emerging learning needs.
. Develop assessments that measure learner outcomes including productivity and understanding.
. Conduct needs analysis to identify key tasks/skills to target in the curriculum and perform post implementation evaluation on key performance and business metrics.
. Manage curriculum portfolio to ensure accurate training materials and assessments from new hire onboarding through continuing education and role specific accreditation programs.
. Execute on curriculum maintenance, review and implementation cycles.
. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional training delivery stakeholders and business subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify knowledge gaps.
. Utilize recent industry experience to make appropriate design decisions.
. Build and maintain strong business relationships, collaborating with the program manager, instructional designers, learning coordinator, other facilitators, and business leaders to deliver learning outcomes and address cross-functional issues.
Basic Qualifications :
. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferably in Instructional Design/Instructional Technology) or proven experience working in a L&D/training team
. Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills for the purpose of eLearning content development and stakeholder communication (hands-on experience in ID and authoring tools is a MUST)
. Experience in graphic design, video design and development skills
. Proven ability to think creatively and contribute to process simplification/improvement at a team level
. Ability to handle multiple projects, often with conflicting deadlines
. Experience measuring and reporting on business impact of training initiatives
Preferred Qualifications :
. Industry certifications in L&D as appropriate
. Familiarity with gamification, xAPI, online learning and learning technologies
. Experience in uploading, tracking and updating courses on Learning Management Systems
. Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
