Job summary
Amazon’s Finance Technology team operates software platforms that are among the largest by volume and complexity. We integrate with multiple software systems both internal and external to Amazon. Our work enables Amazon’s new market or business model launches. We build software that has out reach across multiple geos and businesses.We partner with finance, tax and operations teams world wide.
Enabling Amazon’s explosive growth requires top talent in our Finance Technology (FinTech) organization. FinTech is seeking a Support Engineer to be a part of Platform DevOps team.
At FinTech, we own tools/services which paves the way for other FinTech team in their day to day operations. The responsibility of platform team is to identify process improvement/automation of manual tasks, improve performance and make resilient systems which scales meeting Amazon’s YOY expansion need. As a support engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining software, improving controllership and meeting compliance. You need to have high situational awareness, attention to detail, agility and will own operational excellence for both team and customers. You will be responsible for diving deep into operational issues, bug and deliver root cause fixes. As part of this role you will also be responsible for delivering enhancements to reduce manual effort and eliminate repetitive tasks.
This job will also require on call support in non business hours for high severity issues
We are looking for candidates with
1. 3+ years of industry experience and an engineering degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
2. Hands on working experience in SQL, PLSQL, scripting languages and one programming language preferably Java.
3. Hand on knowledge with at least one database preferably Oracle.
4. Knowledge in cloud computing and AWS technologies is a plus
5. Problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly
6. Ability to work with customers and other technology teams
7. Learn and work with proprietary third-party software
Key job responsibilities
1. Learn key business processes and take complete ownership to execute them with other team members.
2. Develop deep understanding about process and identify repetitive tasks. Work with other team members to automate these tasks.
3. Learn AWS and also risks associated with its core services. Work with other teams to rectify those.
4. Own operational excellence to deliver root cause fixes for software.
A day in the life
As a support engineer, you will:
* Work on the support tickets and provide timely solutions.
* You will work on automation of some of the repetitive tasks.
* You will learn AWS and understand the security risks on key service components.
About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Hands on working experience in SQL, PLSQL, scripting languages and Java
2. Knowledge with at least one database preferably Oracle
3. Knowledge in cloud computing and AWS technologies is a plus
4. Problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience developing on Unix/Linux
