Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. … System administrators also promptly resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the organization.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Ensuring overall system and server uptime, availability, reliability and security and make sure that servers have up to date warranty. Keeping updated, accurate and reliable backups of application and databases
• Liaising with 3rd party vendors, IT providers, etc. for specific requirements
• Documenting policies and procedures and make sure that those are getting followed.
• Troubleshooting servers, desktops, laptops, mobiles, printers and other peripherals issues as they arise
• Install and configure software and hardware
• Manage network servers and technology tools
• Set up email accounts and its security.
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
• Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
• Monitor subordinates’ performance accordingly.

Performance Indicators

• Your work will be evaluated based on Responsiveness and Resolution time and level of overall maintenance of IT systems.
• Your performance will be monitored and assessed on both a monthly as well as annually based on the above KRA’s and performance Indicators.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
• 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
• System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
• Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
• Experience with automation tools
• A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
• Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
