Provide global EDA & Open-Source tools support to R&D businesses, functions, design teams, and end users both locally and globally.
Management of day-to-day operations, end user ticket SLA’s escalations, and the troubleshooting and debugging to determine root cause of server, operating system, infrastructure, process, and tool issues.
Strong knowledge of ASIC/Design EDA Tools (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor Graphics & open-source tools) used in chip design environment
Legacy & new versions of EDA tools installation, distributions (defined process), troubleshooting
EDA application servers (vmanager, emanager, bolt) knowledge of IP, Library, BU tools distributions retiring/deleting old mount points at sites no longer needing the tool
Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and LSF software foundation
Knowledge of NAS storage environment (Isilon & Pure), disk space allocation/monitoring, backups/recovery
Willingness to support On-Call schedule, resolving incidents, fulfilling service & change requests, being consistent with standard process & procedures
Escalation point for P1/P2 issues and complex problems in a 24×7 support environment. Works with multiple IT teams to ensure “Keep the Lights On” goal.
Maintaining key relationships with vendors, internal business leaders and functions, the delivery of services as needed to meet the diverse requirements of global day to day operations, projects, design flows, and tapes outs.
Knowledge and experience with Active Directory/LDAP, DNS, DHCP, Security updates & Patching
Looks for opportunities to improve day-to-day operations by implementing pro-active monitoring/management and automating routine tasks
Develops processes, checklists for handing projects and subsequent operations tasks. Oversees upkeep of process/procedures & technical documentation. Makes improvements by incorporating the learnings from recent issues, security compliance reports, upgrades & patches.
Ability to work in a fast-moving environment & self-driven.
Coaches and mentors junior team members
Flexibility with travel is required – travels to other company/DC locations for project implementation, vendor visits etc.
Qualifications
Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of experience in the areas of IT Infrastructure, architecture & design specifically in highly virtualized environments
5+ years’ experience supporting HPC environments using the IBM Platform products in an R&D Linux design environment is required. Experience supporting an ASIC/EDA semiconductor environment as a Linux/EDA Tools administrator preferred. Experience building, configuring, EDA/Open-Source Tools and administering operating systems.
Must be self-motivated with excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with clients, management, support team members and staff members in a fast-paced environment
Deep technical knowledge of Unix/Linux and virtualization technologies especially VMware and Nutanix
Technical knowledge in storage technologies (SAN and NAS)
Scripting Skills (Shell, Perl, Python)
Technical knowledge of backup/restore (Physical & VM), data center infrastructure and asset management
Experience with managing global IT operations in a large company including the oversight of outsourced operational and project staff. Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and ITSM tools is a plus.
Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
Must be proficient in hardware/OS monitoring concepts and automation framework
Applies broad concepts and theories to achieve innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex problems
Knowledge of networking and other OS technologies is a plus
Proactive management techniques, exposure to automation, scripting skills is a plus
Determines own priorities, both tactical and strategic
Willingness to travel to other company locations, co-lo data centers for project implementations, vendor visits etc.
