Role purpose
This is a Manager (M2 Core) role as Consultant of IT Infrastructure of VMware/Virtualisation under Technology and Security Office, this role will focus on providing excellent service and will also be responsible for IT BAU operations activities and drive Key IT projects to closure .
This Manager level role reports to the Head of IT Operations Microsoft, Virtualisation & Collaboration Technologies and has complete responsibility for delivery operational objectives, plans, policies. This role is to engage will all the business function day-to-day/regular bases and closely work with the all IT infra & Apps Operations teams and business teams and should be able to channelize the resources towards meeting SLA and prioritizing the resources towards addressing key issues in organized manner. This Role will be able to assign resources towards IT projects to make the right impact with the project deliverables. .
The internal focus for this role will be to identify areas of service improvements and at the same time decreasing the service impacting issues especially by implementing automation and AI and also engage very close with all business stakeholders with strong interpersonal skills and customer management engagement skills.
The decisions taken by this role to design the platform shall have a long term impact on availability and serviceability of colt environments.
This role requires detailed knowledge and hand on experience of managing IT Operations technical areas of VMWare/Virtualisation/Cisco UCS/Dell VX-Rail and deployments of Unified Computing Systems (UCS) & Virtualisation estates of Server & Desktop Virtualisation (VDIs) supporting Colt’s critical strategic deliveries such as Novitas, SDWAN, etc in other business functions as Network Operations, Service Delivery, On-Demand, etc.
Key accountabilities
Planning, Evaluating and Optimizing IT Infrastructure process management operations activities.
Manage the dynamics, constantly searching for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet business needs.
Ensuring company policies and procedures are adhered
Preparing and present operations and service delivery reports.
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across other business functions.
Interact with business team to understand service level agreements and communicate the same to team members.
Address customer issues, incident reports, and Corrective Actions.
Develop relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners to assess their technology, support, and security needs.
Bring Industry standard methodologies to ensure operational stability.
Identify, evaluate and implement ideas for continuous improvement in internal processes/areas.
Drive Service improvement projects across in partnership with internal and partner teams
Explore opportunities to optimize and ensure we are in line with customer requirements.
Review periodical – operating system software installation, patching, upgrading and maintenance.
Technical supervision for the team and align the goals to achieve the key results.
Coordination with other teams for operational tasks.
Align the team for BAU and Project activities.
Create strategy and plans for the team.
Supervise team’s activities and progress.
Technical documentation (KB Articles) for the team.
Over all Manage Virtualization infrastructure.
Planning and Designing Virtualization infra for Upgrade and new build.
Lifecycle management of the virtual infrastructure.
RCA and Problem management for P1 and P2 issues.
Understanding of operations of EMC, VMAX and VNX SAN environments, NetApp FAS/V-Series Architecture.
Understanding of iSCSI, NFS, and Fiber Channel protocols.
Plan and orchestrate upgrade of EOL/EOS servers
Ownership & responsibility of scalability, performance and resilience of Colt’s IT Server & Virtualisation Infrastructure platform, including VDIs, VMware Virtual Servers with high-availability & disaster recovery, and ensuring the policies, processes to respond to and resolve to incidents are defined and resourced 24×7 for operational management of Colt’s IT Infrastructure teams under the ownership of this role

Role specific requirements
Skills & Experience
Overall 15+ years of experience of working in Information Technology
10+ year of relevant experience in the implementation, administration and configuration of endpoint technologies in Enterprise environment
Experience in Installation, configuration and fixing knowledge of IT Infrastructure.
Understand IT setup and administration of used platform product
Evaluate new technologies to ensure technical solutions are compatible with the company’s business needs and strategic objectives
Investigate, analyse and resolve technical issues and actively pursue mechanisms for preventing, or automating the response to reoccurrences
Well verse with VMware/Cisco UCS/Virtualisation & Cloud IaaS & PaaS technologies.
Very good communication and negotiation skills
