The Senior IT DBA reports to the Enterprise Architect Manager and has primary responsibility in the SQL DB and Oracle DB maintenance as well as EDI/FTP support. The IT DBA’s lead role is to ensure that database objects, program data access, procedures, and facilities are used properly. This lead role is responsible for database architecture and design. Position is also responsible for ongoing maintenance of enterprise server database systems and system management products.
PRIMARY DUTIES
This individual will be involved in a variety of technical activities centered on the organization’s core systems. The primary customer base served includes internal business users. Areas of focus include:
DATABASE ADMINISTRATION [50%]
Builds and maintains corporate production and test database environments.
Creates storage groups, databases, tables and views, reviews SQL, develops and enforces database standards.
Responsible for database architecture design, database performance, and capacity monitoring/tuning.
Serves as the corporate subject matter expert in the MS SQL and Oracle SQL spaces.
Conduct advanced levels of DB design and architecture capabilities to support applications and interfaces.
Perform Database Backup, Recovery, and Monitoring using RMAN tools.
Ensures work is thoroughly tested and smoothly implemented and promoted to production.
Leads troubleshooting application problems where database management is an integral element.
Leads upgrades and fixes to server operating systems.
Collaborate within a team environment with members of Infrastructure and Applications.
Analyzes and recommends upgrades and/or new acquisitions of hardware to support new systems or growth.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously globally and cross-functionally.
EDI & FTP [30%]
Analyzes and defines EDI and FTP requirements for clients.
Advises and educate clients concerning EDI and FTP guidelines and capabilities.
Creates, develops, and produces mapping documents.
Collaborates with developers (internal and/or external) to develop and test new or modified systems
Develops and maintains communication links with trading partners and oversees integration of File Transfer Packages.
Periodically reviews system to ensure client needs are met; identifies possible modifications as required
Remains current regarding EDI and FTP and internet field technological developments.
Troubleshooting of failed transfer processes.
DOCUMENTATION & COMMUNICATION [20%]
Prepare documentation for the systems in accordance with department and corporate standards.
Prepare and submit project status and/or other reports to the Project Manager as required.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with users.
Proactively identifies opportunities and gains buy-in from senior leadership to create projects or initiatives.
Develop business acumen within a particular functional area of the business.
Challenge business partners with alternate solutions.
Conduct effective, on-going communication, both written and verbal.
Coaches and mentors others.
Independently prioritize project tasks and workload.
Keep abreast of new developments in software, database development, and be informed of the latest techniques, technologies, and practices.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors in BA, CS, or MIS
10 or more years of related IT experience
Expert in MS SQL DB, Oracle SQL DB, FTP solutions such as GoAnywhere
Advanced skills in environment such as MS SQL Server, SSIS, UNIX, Oracle Server, Linux
Advanced skills in Account Payable, Account Receivable, Finance
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle HRMS, Toad, Shell Scripting in UNIX, Gemstone DB
