Job Description
Researches, designs, develops, configures, integrates, tests and maintains existing and new business applications and/or information systems solutions including databases through the integration of technical and business requirements. Applications and infrastructure solutions include both 3rd party software and internally developed applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis of business requirements, coding of modifications or new programs, creation of documentation, testing and maintenance of applications, infrastructure, and information systems including database management systems. Works within the Information Technology function, obtaining resources and working in support of objectives and strategies. Provides required documentation and participates in architecture reviews to ensure that the solutions comply with standards and use approved technologies. Typical customers are company end users and various functional areas such as Supply Chain, Research and Development, Marketing, Finance, a business, or the company.
Responsibilities:
Monitor end-to-end application stack (Hadoop, Vertica, Qlik, PowerBI) and provide end-to-end operation support for all applications.
Knowledge of Hadoop architecture with emphasis on Oozie workflow and Spark Streaming and ability to understand and utilize available monitoring tools both UI-based and CLI tools.
Day-to-day monitoring of data pipeline processing and performance and the tracking of all the running Hadoop, Vertica, Qlik, and PowerBI jobs/tasks.
Troubleshooting application errors include basic knowledge of platforms Hadoop (Oozie, Yarn, Hive, HBase, Spark, and others), Vertica, Qlik and basic source system knowledge such as Kafka, SAP, and network and infrastructure.
Manage and review application log files and basic cluster Hadoop/Qlik log files if applicable.
Engage appropriate support teams and work closely with them to resolve issues and knowledge of the change management process.
Keep track of open and closed issues, including root cause and prevention strategy.
Clearly and concisely communicate issues and relevant information to stakeholders.
Implement operational tooling for any new applications and develop monitoring/alerting solutions around this. In addition, look for monitoring/alerting gaps and assist in coming up with solutions.
Prepare documentation of various processes used by our teams and applications. This includes operational support process documentation and setting up appropriate knowledge sessions.
Diligently teaming with the infrastructure, network, database, application and business intelligence teams to guarantee high data quality and availability.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX OS
Knowledge of Hadoop architecture Platforms and Hadoop filesystem (Hortonworks, Cloudera)
Knowledge of cluster monitoring tools like Ambari, YARN UI, Hue, Oozie, Workflow Manager
Knowing of core java is a plus
Good understanding of OS concepts, process management and resource scheduling.
Basics of networking, CPU, memory and storage.
Good hold of shell scripting
Good to have an understanding of basic coding logic in any open-source language
Good knowledge of Spark, HIVE, HBase, Oozie Workflows,
Knowledge of Databases and generic queries
Ability to perform deep-level log analysis
Knowledge of batch process as well as API processes
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and a desire to take initiative.
Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs including Outlook and Excel
Ability to keep up with and respond to daily emails
Strong customer-focused attitude
Ability to independently track an assigned task or issue and see it to resolution
Ability to document technical steps required to perform a process
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and a minimum of 6 years related experience or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience.
