We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Business Manager – PPM
(Project Portfolio Management).
In this role, you will:
Managing the day-to-day Business Management requirements of the Cybersecurity Project Portfolio including but not limited to financial cost control and planning, charges forecasting and recovery, governance, strategy, functional construct/structure and resolving ad-hoc issues as they arise
Provide insight on how we can optimize the change portfolio to maximize the investment in our strategic change agenda
Build strong and effective relationships across a complex and senior stakeholder framework within Cybersecurity and across the wider IT and Finance organisation
Understand the role of Technology within the overall context of HSBC’s Global business strategy, with a particular focus on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of transparent, commercially focused analysis and leveraging hared services where appropriate
Responsible for portfolio shaping, portfolio governance and portfolio health in partnership with the Cybersecurity PPM Team, delivery assurance and Cybersecurity Transformation team
Responsible for the transparent reporting of direct/charges costs, cost benefits, customer charges and the people strategy for the Cybersecurity Project Portfolio
Analysis on under/over recoveries and rate card analysis, working closely with central IT COO billing team
Cost Allocation Management including disputes, maintenance and reporting
Reconciliation of Pioneer vs GPDM data to ensure Charges and Direct costs are in line, including checking alignment of Billable Project (BP) level information across Pioneer, Clarity and GPDM
Create Clarity projects during Annual Planning and manage the ongoing maintenance of the portfolio Clarity structure, working closely with the PPM PMO and the ‘Run the Bank’ (RTB) Business Managers
Manage the monthly Interlock cycle (including disputes where projects have not yet paid for Cybersecurity resource time)
Assist in driving overall Cybersecurity Transformation agenda and in driving adoption & adherence to agile practices within Cybersecurity
Deliver frequent management reporting to Cybersecurity Technology Operations Director and various other forums (e.g. ExCo) on portfolio health, interlocks, forecast accuracy and budget vs forecast
Support clarity billing queries
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
Essential Skills
Highly proficient with Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong customer focus with a drive to deliver standards of service to internal clients at least equivalent to external providers
Able to work with many simultaneous tasks in a pressurized, time-sensitive environment
Able to drive sometimes challenging conversations with business stakeholders
Able to direct others without having authority or seniority over them
Desirable Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or Engineering
Postgraduate Accounting Qualifications
Certification in an industry recognized project methodology
Knowledge
Understanding of risk management fundamentals
Basic level of financial knowledge (Capex vs Opex, P&L, burn rates, forecasting, charges,etc).
Knowledge and experience of delivery using Agile and/or DevOps methodologies
Understand how technology and process change adds value to the business and ultimately the end customer
Understand the front-to-back investment banking business and Product Control in particular
Experience
Extensive expereince of large budget/financial and business planning experience with high degree of financial acumen
Experience of programme and portfolio management, preferably acquired in a highly regulated environment
Expereince of data gathering from variety of sources including inputs from business, offline spreadsheets, IT systems, etc.
Experience of the application of critical thinking and of articualting findngs from analysing complex data
Preparation of regular reports for consumption by senior audiences
Experience in managing expectations of senior stakeholders
