Job Description
Intel Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) is transforming the Datacenter with a portfolio of FPGA accelerated platforms and software frameworks for end applications such as VRAN and Cloud Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU). In this position, you will be joining the Customer Experience Group as an applications engineer specializing in SmartNIC or IPU solutions featuring Intel processors, FPGA devices and Networking IP.
We are looking for motivated, passionate applications engineer with in depth knowledge of FPGA Development and network processing. The candidate provides deep-dive technical support to customers in developing their SmartNIC/IPU solutions for networking, security, and storage with backend support from internal engineering teams.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1) Consultant on PSG’s SmartNIC/IPU solutions implementation and provide technical support to customers who are developing their solutions.
2) Review system architectural specification requirements and design a best-in-class customer journey by identifying user collateral such as user guides, application notes and design examples, use cases, and customer touchpoints (such as the web, git repository, forums etc.)
3) Evaluate the product releases and liaise with engineering to provide feedback on customer use cases and ease of use
4) Respond to customer technical questions, debug, reproduce customer issues, drive issue resolution with the engineering organization as well as drive Close-Loop Corrective Action (CLCA)
5) Provide technical training, demo, consultation, and hands-on assistance to both internal and customer teams in areas of system architecture, source code deployment, and testing and tuning of hardware/software components.
6) Provide feedback and aid product definition of next generation products.
7) Provide day-to-day technical guidance to team members and individual contributors
8) Represent team in product development forums and influence internal stake holders to deliver customer friendly solutions
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess a Master of Science degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or alternatively a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering with a minimum 3 years of related FPGA and system design experience with PCIe, Ethernet and memory interfaces targeting networking and/or high-performance computing applications.
Minimum qualifications include:
RTL Development flow using HDL
FPGA Implementation using Quartus or Vivado
RTL Simulation using VCS, Questasim
Ability to diagnose and triage functionality and/or performance issues and isolation of problems related to host application, network stack, level API, and/or drivers, PCIe, Ethernet, and FPGA design.
Demonstrated expertise in testing and optimizing systems to meet key performance metrics using industry standard test equipment and open-source software tools.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience integrating FPGA IP (PCIe, Ethernet, External memory) in complex designs using SystemVerilog RTL and Python, Bash, TCL scripting languages.
Experience with debugging system level issues in cloud and telco infrastructure equipment
Experience with networking software such as Intel Data plane development kit (DPDK), Open Virtual Switch (OvS), Intel Storage Plane Development Kit (SPDK) etc.
Experience with networking protocols and frameworks such as OvS, IPsec, MACsec, Storage Plane Offload with RDMA, RoCE etc.

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
