Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
Development of configuration management (CM) standards, procedures and plans and implement all configuration management policy and standards in keeping with ITIL business requirements
Ensure that changes to the configuration management methods and processes are properly approved and communicated
Operational Management
Identify and maintain the original configuration of requirements, design, and related documentation for both hardware and software
Plan the population and management of the CMDB along with associated central libraries, tools, common codes and data and ensure the regular housekeeping of the system
Propose and coordinate with the Service Asset Managers on CIs to be uniquely identified with naming conventions; ensure that developers and configuration system users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates
Ensure the proper baseline identification of configuration items, perform periodic audits, and provide verification of version release configuration items
Maintain status accounting records to ensure that current and historical configurations of products can be accurately determined throughout the product life cycle
Based on configuration audits, ensure that the physical IT inventory is consistent with the CMDB reported inventory and initiate the necessary corrective action
Create and populate project libraries and maintain project status information and status accounting records and reports
Responsible for configuration planning and version control integrity for software and non-software baselines and associated quality assurance process audits
Responsible for the successful implementation of the upcoming CMDB as part of the new tools to be implemented
Mapping of CI’s to business services and integrating with systems management to produce business dashboards.
People Leadership
Interface with process managers and key stakeholders for change, problem, release, capacity and asset management processes to ensure a clearly defined methodology for developing an accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is established and maintained
Governance & Risk
Validate compliance with CM policies and procedures, and report operational and usage metrics on an ongoing basis and provide management reports as required
Experience & Personal Attributes
6+ years of relevant work experience
Excellent administration skills with an eye for detail and self-motivated
High level of experience with enterprise class IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow
Strong analytical skills
Strong engagement skills across technology and the business
The ability to work with third parties and internal service providers
Proven ability to show resiliency and be able to priorities key change activities within the business while managing stakeholder expectations
