Data Engineering and platform under Data Platform and Engineering service program is focused on enabling insights into Mastercard network and help build data-driven products by curating and preparing data securely and reliably. Moving to a Unified and Fault-Tolerant Architecture for Data Ingestion and Processing is critical to achieving this mission.
As a Manager, Software Engineering in the Data Platform and Engineering service program, you will have the opportunity to manage a group of Data Engineers. They build high-performance data pipelines to load into Mastercard Data Warehouse. Our Data Warehouse provides analytical capabilities to several business users who help different customers answer their business problems through data. You will play a vital role in executing the roadmaps of the Merchant team within the Data Engineering program.
Role:
We are seeking an experienced and energetic Software Development Manager to provide leadership and direction to deliver and execute the roadmap of the Merchant team under the Data Platforms and Engineering Program.
The ideal candidate will be technically proficient with solid Experience leading software development teams. They will have full software lifecycle experience and a strong track record of delivery – from initial concept and design to implementation and ultimately productionalize with support.
As a member of the Software Development leadership team, you will be passionate about building a world-class engineering team that enjoys what they do. A strong focus on quality is a must to seek out and drive continuous improvements.
As a software development manager, you will be responsible for solution delivery while working with a global team to drive the Merchant team’s roadmaps. You will be confident in advising the wider project team on design, enhancements, optimization, and implementation while being commercially aware and able to make good judgment calls.
Responsibilities
. Provide technical leadership and direction to the software development team of Data Engineers at Pune Tech Hub, working with the global team.
. Successfully led the definition, development, and delivery of major initiatives in an Agile software development environment.
. Partner with Business and Product Owners to prioritize enhancements and drive strategic decisions.
. As need be contribute as a Scrum Master on one team while managing resources within that and other local teams
. Work with the development team to provide estimates for business solutions, refine the project’s scope/requirements, and manage the scope during the project’s lifecycle.
. Identify process gaps and suggest and implement improvements.
. Drive a culture of continuous improvement on the team.
. Develop business cases in alignment with the MasterCard objectives.
. Ensure development effort is adequately staffed.
. Ensure that staff is well trained and career development plans are in place.
. Ensure staff have appropriate skills and behaviors.
. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to enable a high-performing team.
Ensure adequate support for the team’s area of technical ownership in Production.
Skills
. Software development experience including some management experience
. Passion for working in an Agile software development environment.

. Experience in the development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications
. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
. Knowledge of the payments industry is an advantage.
