As an IT Project Manager at Micron Technology, you are responsible to support small to medium projects with minimal assistance to successful delivery. You should be able to successfully lead, monitor, and control the project through all phases from initiation, planning, execution, and closure by delivering on-time and with-in budget. You should serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects. This is a strategic role that requires collaboration with business partners to ensure business needs are met. This includes understanding how a project impacts the strategic roadmap of the business and aligning project execution to help achieve business objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated traditional project management skills, principles and approaches to help the PMO bring small to medium projects to completion
Minimum 3 years of experience as project manager
PMP certification highly desirable, CSM will be a plus
Knowledge and experience with formal project/program management methodologies
Demonstrated efficiency using data to communicate and inform decisions.
Good interpersonal and written, verbal and presentation skills
Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Initiation:
Collaborate with the solution leads and the delivery program managers to understand the case and the need for the project
Articulate how the project impacts the strategic portfolio roadmap
Identify cross dependencies with other domains
Create the project charter and framework
Identify the key partners and map the responsibilities by creating the RACI matrix.
Define scope, timelines, and landmarks
Understand and define risks, impacts, and resource analysis
Collaborate with the vendor partners and clearly draft the responsibilities for the vendor partners
Project Planning:
Partner with the solution manager and define executive sponsor, core team and project teams.
Participate in Blueprinting to create Work Breakdown Structure and schedule model
Ensure framework, SOP98, SOC compliance requirements, and other artifacts are prepared for project kick off.
Schedule and facilitate the Project Team, Core Team, and Sponsor Leader meetings.
Schedule regular meeting cadence drafted in the communication plan.
Identify the solutions/options for the scope and define the project scope.
Develop estimated timelines for the development, ITC, UAT and all major milestones
Partner with solution manager and delivery program manager to gather the SOP98 details, project spend forecast, SOW and PO’s
Build the project plan, communication plan, test plan, release plan, RAID log, and data conversion plan.
Ability to identify, document, and respond to risk with mitigation, contingency, or other risk response plans.
Schedule and drive the design and review with the executive leadership.
Support the solution manager to drive the steerco for the plan gate approval.
Partner with the solution manager to underpin scheduled project life cycles for the Go-LIVE and follow the necessary governance checklist to move the project to execution.
Project Execution and closure:
Closely track the timeline for development, SOE, ITC, UAT.
Partner with the technical leads to share updates as per the cadences in the Playbook
Identify and track risks using the RAID Log
Partner with project team to help remove blockers
Provide schedule or resource impacts as appropriate.
Ensure appropriate metrics can be evaluated to measure the completeness and quality of project deliverables.
Provide status reports as indicated by Project Management Office (PMO) and other governing bodies.
Escalate risks and issues to the appropriate level and formality for resolution.
Control the work of the project scope to ensure deliverables are complete and meet quality standards.
Ability to apply change control to mitigate additional work to avoid gold-plating or scope creep.
Ability to provide detailed Hypercare, Go live and cutover plans
Ability to create project-level lessons learned and distribute.
Work with the steerco for the necessary approvals for the project closure and ensure the necessary artifacts are available for the governance team to close/handover the project
Leadership Skills:
Provide leadership within assigned projects. Set the right tone given the needs of the project.
Define a project vision and gain team commitment to it. Provide support to all team members working to achieve it.
Resolve differences of opinion within the team.
Lead project resource allocations.
Perform problem solving at the project level
