Job Overview:
The Storage Engineer position is responsible for planning, designing, and hands-on implementation, maintenance, automation, and repair of a various shared storage devices, fiber channel switches and backup technologies. Provides high level escalation engineering support and roadmap ownership for enterprise components and environment architectures. This is a multifaceted position, being responsible for the demanding up-time of corporate and production SAN/NAS/Backup technologies and how they interact with other technologies. This position will work with other IT teams and all consumers of IT services to resolve any issues affecting service availability and responsiveness of the various SAN’s and other shared storage and backup technologies.
Job involves a high degree of complexity. Duties are performed using generally established policies and procedures and deviations from the norm are typically approved by leaders. Work is checked or verified visually and/or by results. Decisions are made within established departmental guidelines. Position has high visibility due to directly impacting teams and business workflow, service delivery and relationships with teams.
Backup Technologies: Veeam, Oracle RMAN
Storage Technologies: Dell EMC VMAX would be preferable, and any other storage experience is plus
Operating Systems: RHEL, OEL, Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012/2016 Able to work on Windows 7 & 10
Ticketing Tools: Service Now/JIRA
Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds or Relevant
Technologies: VMware /Cloud
How You Will Make An Impact:
Primary responsibilities
Provide Level 1 level support in SAN infrastructure and technologies for 24×7 NOC environment. Ability to own and drive all aspects of SAN infrastructure support to the client.
Partner with the Infrastructure Architecture, Development and Operations teams for designing and supporting shared storage technologies from Dell, EMC VMAX and other storage and backup technologies during all phases of systems lifecycle to define, implement, design, configuration, automation, testing, migration phases, triage incidents to resolution and mentoring of other teammates.
Provide support in problem management/resolution and engage in recommending/ submitting/ implementing proactive change requests to prevent problems from occurring based on trending analysis and business needs.
Participate in full ITIL-based methodology for Change Control, Problem Management, Service Management, and Capacity Management
Design and develop operational procedures for the Shared Storage and backup infrastructure for team members.
Play critical role in problem management/resolution when faults occur and engage in recommending/submitting/implementing proactive change requests to prevent problems from occurring based on trending analysis and business needs.
Data security and privacy background is a plus (PCI).
Handle all the backup failures issues for Business-Critical Volumes, Exchange Backups and taking corrective actions
Supporting Dell EMC storage and Backup Configuration for the clients
Provide internal Knowledge transfer session for team to make everyone up to date
Troubleshooting and administering database backups, establishing and maintaining backup and recovery policies & procedures for SQL & Oracle Databases
Ensure active and effective backup policies are in place, configuring database backups and Replications
Backup and Storage Capacity Management, Performance Management, Incident Management Outage Management & Change Management
Creating Aggregates, Volumes, LUNs (Thin & Thick) & SVM
Coordinating with Vendors for Disk replacements and Hardware related issues
Maintaining Service Level Agreements for the incidents assigned for the respective teams
Actively monitor the Veeam Backup and provide Storage upgradation and migration activities as per the requirement.
Configure and test SAN system when new hosts are added/removed
What You Will Need To Succeed:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and educational combination
2-4 years of experience with enterprise storage and/or backup infrastructure support or combination of relevant experience and education
Experience in capacity planning and performance tuning in a large enterprise environment
Experience with various enterprise backup solutions
Strong knowledge in shared storage technologies from Dell, EMC VMAX and other storage and backup technologies
knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server administration including Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS and DHCP
knowledge managing and working in a highly virtualized x86 environment.
Knowledge of database concepts, specifically with SQL Server
Familiar with fundamental systems engineering concepts. In-depth knowledge of network services, such as IP, ARP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, NTP, SNMP, etc.
You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations.
Willing to work in 24X7 (Rotational shifts)

Physical Requirement and Work Environment:
Job hours may exceed 40hr work week in the event of project deadlines or outages.
Moderate to high job pressure may occur in relation to quick turnarounds for some projects or daily activity
