The Sr CMDB Admin/Analyst reports to the Manager of Cloud Operations – Content/Asset Management. Responsibilities will also include working knowledge of CMDB, Qualys, Metabase, ServiceNow and other related SACM experience. There will be a strong focus put on reporting within Metabase.
Responsibilities include loading configuration items into the CMDB, updating the CMDB design structure, verification of CI targets, registration of new CI objects, modification, and de-registration of CI objects. Perform audits of Configuration Items and produce reports for exception, status and metrics related to Configuration Management.
The Sr CMDB Admin/Analyst is expected to have broad experience with skills in process documentation, technical writing, best practices, business analysis/analytics, data management, operations infrastructure system environments and distributed technologies. The candidate must be articulate, thorough, and able to work independently.
The Sr CMDB Admin/Analyst uses tools and processes that drive change management, version control, build management and release management. You will provide administration and technical support to CMDB, including data analytics and tracking, audits, reporting and proposed changes to configuration Items and Mapping.
This individual will be responsible for working with Cloud Operations personnel to design, build and maintain the documentation portals, repositories, dashboards, reports, audits, primarily through the use of Confluence, OLLIE and other in-house/OpenText supported tools. These responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, processes and procedures, business critical data, developing workflow-based forms and providing metric reports covering services supported by said teams.
Work with SME’s and management to develop long term content management strategies, record retention/versioning policies, contingency, and escrow plans for Cloud Operations documentation
Work cross-functionally with Tools and Automation, Asset Management, Engineering, IT, Service Management and PMO organizations
Work with Capacity Management, Engineering and Leadership to create and maintain timely capacity and performance metrics reports
Provide the transfer of knowledge to peers in your area of expertise & assisting in the training of new hires
Manage documentation input, design, and layout within OpenText Confluence and OLLIE, the Document Repositories
Strong analytic skills. Data analysis reporting for management and executive management leaders
Create/develop and pages, portals, reports, custom applications to support the Cloud Operations – Integration M&A and Cloud Operations and Configurations/Asset Management teams
Perform other ITIL related assignments as needed, including Change, Problem, Release and Availability Management tasks as well as Root Cause Analysis.
Will back-up and assist the Asset Management team, where needed. Activities include optimize the value, cost and risk of software and hardware asset life cycles while aligning to the business requirements at OpenText. Strong emphasis on improving OpenText licenses compliance especially regarding major vendor entitlements such as Oracle. Assisting with audit, data gathering requests – SAE16, SOX, PCI requests
What it takes:
Minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience within operations in a large, diverse IT environment with knowledge of IT Configuration Management concepts and practices.
Ability to perform data analysis working across multiple application and database systems
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or training or a combination of both
In-depth knowledge of the CMDB interdependencies/links across the various technologies
In-depth understanding of the ITIL service delivery model and best practices standards
Strong project management skills
Experience with:
CMDB
Security scanning/monitoring toolsets
Knowledge of common Configurations/Asset Management Repository and or similar tools
Proven experience working with IT Asset Management and Discovery technologies supporting Software and Hardware Asset Management
Ability to perform data analysis working across multiple application and database systems
Data reporting WUI toolsets, such as Metabase, Qualys CSAM, Confluence
Service request/ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow, HP Service Manager, JIRA
Data analytics tool sets, such as Business Objects, SQL
Process and documentation
Must be able to handle large volumes on email effectively. (MS Outlook)
Working knowledge of:
Configurations/Asset Management process, policies, best practices
Open systems, such as Redhat Linux, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and Windows NT
Any certifications, training, specialized degrees related to Configurations Management, CMDB
Ability to work well with others and communicate professionally with upper management
The skills needed to prioritize work/projects/issues
Coordination, organization, and team collaboration skills
Ability to defuse anger, resolve conflict and operate with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision, multi-task and respond to priority issues effectively
Self-motivated and quality-driven, balanced with technical support capabilities
