The IT Networking and Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s network infrastructure and ensuring the security and integrity of the company’s information systems. This role requires a deep understanding of network technologies, security protocols, and industry best practices. The IT Networking and Security Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement network and security strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives
Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management:
Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and other networking components.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize network resources.
Manage network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.
Ensure network availability, reliability, and scalability to meet business needs.
Network Security:
Develop and implement network security policies, procedures, and controls to protect the organization’s data and infrastructure from unauthorized access and threats.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and respond to security incidents promptly.
Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, technologies, and industry trends.
Security Infrastructure:
Manage and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), and authentication systems.
Implement and enforce security measures, such as access controls, encryption, and multi-factor authentication.
Collaborate with the IT team to ensure security practices are integrated into system development and implementation processes.
Incident Response:
Develop and maintain an incident response plan to effectively handle security incidents, including containment, investigation, and resolution.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders during security incidents to minimize impact and facilitate the restoration of services.
Conduct post-incident analysis and recommend enhancements to prevent future incidents.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead a team of network and security professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and compliance, to implement network and security initiatives.
Foster a culture of security awareness and ensure employees are educated on security best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Proven experience five years in managing network infrastructure and security in a corporate environment.
Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and architectures (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, MPLS).
In-depth understanding of network security concepts and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption).
Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001 and data privacy principles.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable
