IT Business Analyst is responsible for identifying and defining the business needs of their clients and stakeholders and helping to determine solutions to meet business needs or resolve business problems. The role may be part of an IT project development environment or an individual contributor at the business interface.

Shell is looking for talented Business Analyst skills to join our IT team in Bangalore working as one team together with other Shell IT hubs globally (London, Houston, Netherland) delivering both custom built and vendor supplied applications to Shell trading businesses in Power, Gas, LNG & Environmental Products. We are scaling up our Business Analysis Capability to support emerging markets – Shell India, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore & Philippines.
Business Analyst will primarily support the Design Engineering Capability where you will be working in projects for Shell Energy. Join us if you have knowledge of the energy commodity trading life cycle, from setting up counterparties and communicating with counterparties using ETRM application. Your experience working on various operations systems and understanding of commodity trading in Emerging Markets will be highly welcome. Your experience of delivering IT solutions to large consumers of Power, Gas, LNG and Environmental Products and the supporting business processes that enables a business to serve customer needs would be valuable to us.

What’s the role?
This work is within the ETRM Team in Energy Trading space in downstream side of business.
Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.
Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including health, safety, security, usability, data, and supportability considerations.
Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Configure and document software and processes, using agreed standards and tools.
Propose designs / solutions which contribute to project delivery performance and co-ordinate input to devise project test strategy
Interact with multiple IT delivery partners to understand software limitations, deliver application designs and ensure that business requirements, use cases are handled in Agile manner
Volunteers for community leadership roles. Supports the regional networks through leading activities, presenting topics, coaching others, and work on best practice sharing.
Able to link technical solutions with business strategy when working with business partners.
Engage and build relationship with Business stakeholder and develop trust, respect and credibility.
Broad and extensive knowledge, often in own specialized field, to provide interpretive, advisory, or facilitating services for the use of others to achieve results.
Serves as an SME for specific tools, techniques, or business areas.
What we’ need from you
Typical Years of Experience: 5-12+ years of corporate IT experience, 2-8+ Years IT BA Experience
Minimum Education or Certification: Bachelor’s Degree preferably related to IT.
Thorough understanding of business processes in ETRM space
Skill and experience of Business Analysis techniques and tools.
CCBA or PMI-PBA certified preferred. Working to achieve CBAP if preference to remain on IT BA career path.
Influential at team level through oral presentations, business cases, and investment proposals.
Agile project delivery experience.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
Clear and Concise communication
CI mindset and experience in business process improvement.
Keen learner mindset.
Thorough understanding of Aligne/Open line Endur
Good understanding of business processes as Nomination, scheduling, Settlement, trade set up, trade modelling, reporting etc.
Domain Knowledge
This role is for a Business Analyst in the Shell energy trading IT team. You will be working in the ETRM Team and hence prior experience of ETRM is required. You can forward to learning new dimensions of application design and development in the ETRM Team covering several areas of trading and supply such as trade capture, GBO etc.
