They ensure that services provided by third parties are secure and reliable while exercising contractual clauses to ensure key KPIs (e.g. Critical Service Levels, Key Measures) are upheld
What’s the role?
As the IT Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end operations of the Fleet Solutions landscape and delivery of day-to-day E2E application services according to the agreed Service Levels and/or Operate Level Agreements.
Other Function includes:
They are the day-to-day service integrator (end-to-end) to ensure application landscapes remain compliant. You will drive the Incident/Problem resolution by assisting in key operational activities in delivery, fixes, and supportability with operations staff and/or suppliers. They ensure regulatory and compliance controls are embedded in landscape operations and assist with evidence collection. The IT Operations Engineer assists with supportability and transition activities of enhancements and project solutions. This includes analyzing and understanding business functional and non-functional requirements for supportability impact, as well as assessing implications of landscape changes and reviewing for enhancement and continuous improvement opportunities. They also build knowledge of relevant information risks and regulatory requirements.
IT Operations Engineer will lead Shell Fleet applications which range from Prime, Maintenance, Essential & Consumption Service Tier to meet aligned SLA, KPI collaborating with DevOps & other Service teams (s).
This role will drive activities like Process Compliance, QA, Process Assurance, Document Management, Communications etc. for a defined process area (Incident, Problem, Change or Request).
The Service Manager acts as the escalation point between Business IT and 3rd party provided for any deterioration in service levels. Further, with the advent of cloud-based infrastructure services, service managers are increasingly responsible to manage vendor operations teams to ensure appropriate management and change to the infrastructure services provided to the end-user organisation. Monitors service levels and resolves issues. Required to quickly debug and resolve issues.
Interaction is limited mostly to within own team. Limited exposure to / interaction with business leadership.
Works under supervision. Delivers the work as assigned, applying the work procedures, and frameworks. Decides which approach they take; however, guidance could be provided by more senior colleagues.
Operationalize Agile ways of working and collaborate with the Site Reliability vertical to deliver and sustain reliability.
Contact with Suppliers, Business team members up to middle management, and a wide range of IT teams
Supplement the team with inherited technical skills that can create opportunities for continuous improvement.
Working effectively and delivering Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments across many organization boundaries, including ecosystem partners
Constructively challenging, and being challenged, whilst maintaining appropriate relationships with key stakeholders
Virtual working in a global environment with culturally diverse teams. Managing multiple delivery priorities and multiple demand requests. Working with multiple stakeholders in various organizations.
Risks – License to Operate, Global reputation, $100’s of millions at risk. Failure within these products and services could have effects on Shell’s reputation and ability to participate in these markets and fines would be very substantial in some areas (i.e., GDPR).
What We Need from You
A minimum of 6+ years of relevant work experience
ITIL Certification (Foundation [Mandatory] – Intermediate [preferred])
Experience in working on interconnected enterprise landscapes
Good communication/influencing/negotiation/presentation skills at all levels of the Business and IT hierarchy
Working effectively to deliver SLA commitments through others across many organisation boundaries, including ecosystem partners (suppliers, IT team members and business leaders and team members)
Good interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with senior Business stakeholders
Good understanding of the software engineering life-cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems
Understanding of B2B environment preferred
