WHAT YOU’LL DO
BCG’s HR Systems Group is seeking a dynamic scrum master with excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and management skills. This role will join a global team which takes care of requirements, design, configuration, maintenance and support of BCG’s global staffing and resource allocation solution
The Scrum Master will work with our engineers, product and UX resources to help develop customer-centric digital software products from idea to production. They will act as a servant leader within the team(s) while solving issues and removing impediments quickly and efficiently. They will coordinate with the Product Owner (PO) of their team(s) and facilitate the scrum events for each of the team(s). They will create an environment where the team is able to self-organize and help enforce accountability of the team agreement. A large part of the position is building a trusting and safe environment for the team. They will be responsible for suggesting and cascading best practices to continuously improve team(s) outcomes. The Scrum Master will facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution while also getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. They must hold a high standard for remarkable work and excel when working within a lean organization.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
The Scrum Master is responsible for the day to day management of the scrum team activities. Responsibilities of this role will be as below but not limited to:
Being the Scrum Master for 2-3 teams
Working with product leadership in the alignment, planning and execution of product delivery.
Facilitating and/or participating in team ceremonies (Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Refinement, Estimations, Retrospectives, Scrum of Scrums etc).
Working with their teams with a sense of urgency to resolve conflict and remove impediments while also facilitating discussion and forcing decision-making – where necessary – at the Team and Tribe level.
Working alongside the PO and team to constantly optimize processes, ways of working and the team agreement in a way that maximizes the value creation, product quality and happiness of the team.
Maintaining an environment within the teams where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
Shield the team from external interference to enable optimal functionality and productivity
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
Bachelor/Master’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of 4-5 years experience in a scrum master role
9-11 years of experience in any IT role( BA, Developer etc) prior to being a scrum master
Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them
One or more of the following basic certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PSM, SSM, CSP-SM or equivalent agile certification
Awareness of and experience with scaled agile frameworks (Scrum at Scale, SAFe, etc.)
Sound understanding of the principles and basics of agile, scrum, and kanban
Experience in facilitating Agile team ceremonies like Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Refinement, Estimations, Retrospectives, Scrum of Scrums etc
Strong working knowledge of technical engineering best practices including behaior driven development, test driven development, continuous integration, DevOps
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong situational awareness and skills in facilitating conflict resolution and continual improvement
Emotional Intelligence: need the ability to recognize and address behaviors that are counterproductive to the team dynamic
Extensive experience leveraging agile tools (Version One, Jira, Rally, etc.) to facilitate team working
Proven ability to work effectively on a distributed team.
Strong skills in Windows office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
