A Team Lead, which is used interchangeably with the term player / coach, is a non-management role which does not formally manage any direct reports, but acts as a guide / mentor to team members to support development and enablement. This role can as well as provide an upward path to formal management roles.
As Team Lead you will:
Spend the majority of time performing as an IC – team lead responsibilities are in addition to your current role
Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
Act as a proxy when the manager is on leave or when manager unavailable
Answer team member questions, help with team member problems, and oversee team member work for quality and guideline compliance
Provide direction, coaching and guidance for team members
Provide input on day-to-day operations for employees in partnership with their leader
Take part in recruitment process
Act as buddy for all new hires
Run agendas for weekly team meetings
Identify areas for new training or skill checks
Communicate campaign initiatives
Provide management visibility on team performance and growth with regular reports
Research and test new outbound methods and tools
For clarity the role will not include any of the following responsibilities:
Have any direct reports
Own responsibility for other employees’ performance
Have budgetary responsibility
Provide recommendations on comp increases or deliver performance reviews
Conduct performance reviews or quarterly check-ins
Candidates must have:
Have 12 months tenure and be in good standing
Be a P4 or higher
Have been rated “Strong” or above in their most recent performance review
Broad understanding of server-side code (C#, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or PHP) and client-side code (JavaScript, Android, iOS). A good understanding of OOP is necessary. Expertise with both native and mobile applications is a great bonus.
Good knowledge of RESTful technology, previous work with APIs and ability to understand and solve issues with cloud solutions.
Skills in troubleshooting network connectivity issues, with an understanding of TCP/UDP, and basics of SSL/TLS. Bonus: Understanding of WebRTC would be a HUGE plus.
