Background
Unilever – Enterprise Business Integration (EBI) has embraced IPAAS adoption to modernize, simplify and consolidate the 11 legacy into 5 strategic technologies viz., B2B + MFT (Boomi), API Led (Mulesoft), SAP and factory integration (SAP PI and BODS) and Event Driven (Solace) making it a “Future Fit Integration” Platform and frictionless integration to unlock huge potential among the Unilever Edge-to-Edge experience programmes (iOps, Employee experience, Ecommerce & Beyond). This will help deliver competitive, volume driven growth, while supporting an increasing demand for agility and will have to be underpinned by sustainable cost reduction. EBI Transformation is expected to enable –
Improved Business agility and customer centricity across end-to-end experiences enabling seamless and future fit integrations. Future fit Integration with a competitive edge through 99.99%+ resilience – thereby requiring connected, reconfigurable and composable Integration ecosystems and assets. Speed and productivity through increased levels of automation and workforce augmentation coupled with upskilling and reskilling effort Being cost-efficient and resource-efficient, to boost growth and support investment
Purpose of the Role:
Much progress has happened through the Integration initiatives, however there is a need to accelerate the change and to take it to next level. In addition, the above mentioned diverse and evolving needs of Integration, coupled with the rapidly evolving technology landscape requires elevated attention from Enterprise Platforms.
The IT Lead Manager (Integration) will be responsible for the following key focus areas:
Define and create the “Integration of the future” strategy that is fit for purpose for the digital transformation agenda of Unilever Enterprise platform. Business Partnering the various experience led initiatives in co-creating a digital strategy, that delivers on the in-flight transformation initiatives while creating a pathway for the “Integration of the future”
Relationship Management and Governance with senior stakeholders across various experience workstreams
Managing demand and executive service level management. Anticipate and plan for internal customers’ current and future technology needs across various experience workstreams
Accountability for delivery & run of all planned and approved global IT initiatives, for Integration Providing guidance and support on all market demand for Integration, through engagement with Market Operations IT teams (Geo IT teams) Ensuring (along with Information Security) – a secure Integration infrastructure and practices Creating a future fit organization – with the right skillsets to meet the current and future technology needs
In addition, the role will also enable UniOps Technology Transformation journey (within Integration) focusing on vendor consolidation, application rationalization and expediting journey to cloud.
Scope of the Role
The role covers the following areas –
Partnering with the platforms, business and Engineering teams –
Conceptualization of Integration assets for the digitization and cloud journey initiatives.
Ensuring easier access to technology & data, for the frontline to innovate
Enable agility, cost-competitiveness, and productivity initiatives
Defining agile & future-ready delivery models, SI and Product partnerships, Architecture, Solutions, and Processes to help unlock the innovation needed for the transformation Manage innovation programs with an end-to-end accountability of the product technology stack, while delivering resilient IT operations Strengthen product and platform strategy – through globally consistent solutions on core platforms to deliver scalable and integrated technologies
Collaborating with various platform leaders and UniOps leadership to build enhanced partnerships between IT Product partners, SI Partners, Engineering partners and specialized niche partners creating a stronger technology ecosystem and governed investing in future fit initiatives, enabled by technology.
Prevent proliferation of avoidable local solutions while at the same time enabling responsiveness to local market needs
Identify opportunities on app rationalization and along with business stakeholders initiate a joint futuristic vision towards the blueprint for “Integration of the future”
Talent Management – Creating a High Performing team, enabling digital culture and mindset within teams, building talent, and ensuring retention of domain knowledge in UniOps
Key Deliverables:
Short Term
Support Integration & UniOps Leadership in establishing a governance framework Ensure that in-flight initiatives are landed “on-time & in-full” and within budget Create a “NorthStar” reference blueprint/roadmap and standards, best practices for the “Future Fit Integration” as per Integration Guidelines and Info security compliance. Build an organization structure – with a review of internal vs external capabilities and relevant for the “NorthStar” reference blueprint/roadmap Strengthen partnership with product partners (Mulesoft, Boomi, SAP, etc) with continuous engagement to drive co-innovation & product roadmap & help build a solid foundation to enable accelerated innovation, evaluate emerging technology and inform & drive the Unilever Digital Strategy. Identify opportunities on app rationalization and along with business stakeholders initiate a joint vision towards the “future of Integration” state Support cyber security standards in Unilever and cybersecurity architectural advisory
Long Term (24 months)
Enable “Future of Integration” strategy based on “NorthStar” reference blueprint Asset based Integration platform with high reuse. Micro service architecture and operate Integration platform as a product mindset

Global footprint of Integration seamlessly integrating over 70% of Unilever CMDB applications (~1500 Apps) and connecting over 2800+ external trading partners across Customer, Consumer, Commercial and Employee experiences. 5 Strategic Integration technologies which are future and cloud ready based on Design patterns, Resilient Architecture supporting Micro Services Built to process over 35 million messages per month volume with a peak volume of ~3 million messages per day. Approx. €3M of Project spend annually and €9.1M of BAU Run budget annually
