Primary Responsibilities: Varian delivers virtual applications and desktops to support end user’s connectivity to company resources in a secure and controlled environment. The person filling this role will primarily be responsible for supporting a specific use case of clinicians that utilize Varian’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure for supporting real-time patient care at external hospitals and clinics. This role will require immediate response to incidents and requests for support during working hours and may also require some after hours support as well. While supporting the clinicians will be the primary responsibility of this role, when not providing end user support to those users, you will be working with the virtual apps and desktops team in day-to-day operations, project tasks and maintaining the infrastructure that supports the delivery of these applications and desktops. This can include troubleshooting other support tickets, upgrades and continual user experience enhancements.
Project Responsibilities: This role will be involved in projects within the virtualization team and be expected to contribute to innovation ideas, suggestions on improvements based on observations and user experience feedback and to be involved in yearly project tasks within the team.
Operational Responsibilities: The person filling this role should be an overall “IT Generalist” in the sense that they should be proficient in application support, remote connectivity applications (Citrix Receiver, VMWare Horizon Client, TeamViewer, VPN clients), general desktop and network troubleshooting as well as experience with virtualization technologies such as Citrix Apps and Desktops and/or VMWare Horizon.
Qualifications Required: BE, B Tech, MSc, MCA or equivalent degree
Experience (Years): 4+ years as an IT generalist or working within various facets of IT technologies and support teams
Technologies required: Desktop and advanced application troubleshooting, General understanding of troubleshooting network issues, Microsoft Office applications, Office 365, VMware Horizon Virtualization, Citrix Virtualization, Remote Connectivity applications
Skills:
a solid understanding of Microsoft tools and application environments, Windows, Virtualization Cloud Platforms, PowerShell and storage, virtualization, and network technologies
Practical hands on experience/knowledge of Virtualization technologies (Citrix/VMWare preferred)
Expertise in developing, deploying and supporting enterprise application/services on Microsoft Technology and three tier application/system designs
2+ years of IT experience in architecting and deploying Microsoft enterprise solutions
4+ years of experience in Microsoft application management, support, and performance optimization
4+ years of experience in End User and Desktop support
Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions
Ability to work in a team and motivate others
Strong communication, organization, problem solving and diagnostics skills
Proven strength and patience in working well with end users of various technical abilities and understanding
Proven ability to transfer knowledge and stay aware of current trends and technical advancements
Experiences considered a PLUS:
Experience working in healthcare industry preferred. Working with supporting end users that provide real-time patient care and understand the urgency of quickly and efficiently troubleshooting issues they may encounter is a HUGE PLUS.
Languages Proficiency (if any): English
