Introduction:
The role is for a Senior Oracle Developer on the TDB (Transaction Database) team. The jobholder is responsible for
Developing and enhancing the TDB application. This includes perform technical assessment of requirements received, effort estimation, solution design, build/test the approved design and implementation into production environment in accordance with SDLC best practices.
Provide analysis and solution when production issues/job failures are escalated to build the bank.
Contribution in the overall stability of application by co-ordinating and pro-actively working along with RTB to enhance stability of TDB application.
Discuss with users, Business Analysts and understand the functional aspects of requirements
Participate in various organizational initiatives like Execution Excellence, Dev Ops etc.
What will you be doing?
Analysis:
Actively engaged external business and IT partners in the requirements analysis for system enhancements and changes.
Writing functional specifications if required.
Design:
Interpret and understand functional specifications
Writing technical design documents adhering to predefined standards
Code:
Hands on development of quality (i.e. readable, performing and supportable) PL/SQL code on an Oracle database, delivering the functionality detailed in the technical specifications
Hands on development of Autosys, Unix, and Perl scripts, delivering the functionality detailed in the technical specifications
Ensuring code written meets the predefined company and department standards
Performance Tuning:
Tuning existing code to ensure acceptable application performance
Review users queries to understand data access patterns and suggest enhancements to data model and/or indexing strategy
Quality Assurance:
Conducting reviews at various quality check points and providing constructive feedback
Mentoring junior members of the team
Testing:
Preparation of detailed unit test cases
Execution of unit test cases and documentation of results
Providing support during QA and UAT test phases
Diagnosis and resolution of defects found during QA and UAT test phases
Support regression testing – investigate output differences.
Implementation:
Packaging up codes for release into production
On implementation of releases, provide training to support team members
Post-Implementation:
Point of contact for support team, investigating and resolving issues found in production
Production Escalation:
The role demands to provide analysis and solution when production issues/job failures are escalated to build the bank (Production Escalation to BTB) in a timely manner. Individuals will be required to provide Production escalations on rotation basis.
Communication Responsibilities
Communicate directly with business analysts and project managers, understanding detailed business requirements at all stages of the development lifecycle
Communicate effectively with business users to gain an in-depth understanding of new requirements and minor system changes
Communicate effectively with the other external IT development teams and the local development manager.
Work closely with global development team members in Singapore, London and New York – participating in and contributing to technical discussions. Participate and contribute in technical discussions
What we’re looking for:
Experience and Qualifications:
A bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related.
Good experience years of hands-on Oracle database development experience.
Experience of working in a fast-paced and agile environment.
IB experience and working experience for data processing systems.
Technical Skills:
Extensive experience Oracle 11G , PL/SQL Development , Database design, SQL performance tuning
Experience with Unix (preferably Linux)
Good understanding of Data Warehouse and Data Mart concepts with proven experience in both
Ability to design and implement logical and physical data models
Hands on experience with GIT or similar version source code control tools.
Ability to perform effort estimation for a given piece of work.
Familiar with scheduling management technologies e.g. Autosys, Control M
Experience working with large Oracle databases (1 TB or more)
Ability to design and Model Database
Ability to quickly understand and provide short and long term solution to production issues.
Understand processes involved in supporting production environments
An ability to propose and implement enhancement in the established production processes
Skills that will help you in the role:
Able to work well with IT developers in multiple locations.
Knowledge of software development ‘best practices’. Good knowledge of the software development life cycle.
Analytical & Problem Solving skills – ability to investigate and resolve issues in a high-pressured environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask, Ability to train others.
Preferred:
Good understanding of investment banking, and the industry sector
Good understanding of front to back finance and operational process flows
Understanding of Agile SDLC concepts; Understanding of Scrum/Kanban Agile SDLC methodology
