The department Information Technology at our subsidiary, is looking for an experienced Software Packager to support our application packaging team. As our new Application Package Specialist, your focus will be on developing, scripting, and testing packages used for automated software installation.

The role holder will have the main responsibility for these services. This will include ensuring that a variety of applications and plug-ins can be deployed unattended to Windows workstations: either silently or with visible progress as required. This role is also critical to ensuring that common plug-ins and software are kept up to date and security vulnerabilities are patched in a timely fashion.

We are running 6500 Clients (Notebooks and Desktops) on Windows 10 Enterprise in German and English OS Languages and we are using IVANTI DSM/Heat for our Client Life Cycle Management

Responsibilities

Creating Client Software packages for new Applications and update existing applications (example: Solidworks, Autocad,….etc)

Develop, test and maintain software packages for distribution to user desktops, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.

Review and validate software request tickets.

Creation of installation guide in collaboration with software key user.

Scripting of Packages for software distribution Alpha test & Documentation of any technical parts in the development process.

Beta testing of other team members packages.

End-user test setup (on virtual desktops).

Assisting 2nd/3rd level support in finding the root cause for Package-related problems and a possible solution.

Performing and maintaining the distribution of all Microsoft related Security patches

Performing and maintaining the distribution of all Client Application Security patches.

Implementing of new driver sets for new Notebook Models and series

Implementing new driver sets for CAD Workstations and standard Desktops

Extensive testing of application packages and deployment

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in any IT related courses.

2+ years of experience in Application Packaging (with tools like SCCM)

Deep Skills in Windows 10 in an Enterprise Active Directory Environment

Skills in Powershell

Skills in Windows 10 Registry, Processes, Filesystem

Deep Understanding of MSI and EXE Packaging standards and best practices

Problem solver with great communication skills

Know, how to read and understand log files.

Know and understand the basics of the file structure and local settings (application data, etc)

Read and understand messages in event viewer

Familiar with registry editor and where modifications are made when installing software.

Thinking about user satisfaction while providing help and communicating in a way they understand

Ability to adapt quickly to dynamic environments, learn new technologies and develop effective, efficient, and documented solutions to complex problems

Ability to work in a team environment

Good multitasking ability, analytical and problem-solving skills independently

Capability to manage small projects

English fluency in writing and speaking

Readiness to travel, if needed
