Essential Functions:
Participate in the daily operations, including change requests, incidents, troubleshooting, patching and monitoring of all hardware, software, and applications on various platforms (Windows, VMware, Storage, Azure, AWS, etc.) within the established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Recommends and implements standards and procedures improvements for the implementation and administration of physical and virtual infrastructure
Excellent working knowledge in the areas of various platforms (Operating Systems/Storage/Hardware/Hyperconverged) and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure), providing subject matter expertise
Creates and maintains operating procedures/best practices/standards related to system administration of physical and virtual infrastructure
Maintains good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
Participate in on-call rotation for escalation support of technical issues, supporting the 24×7 operation environment
Education:
Four years of University resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job-related experience
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
ITIL, Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, AWS
Relevant Work Experience:
7+ years of related technical experience required
Strong background in engineering and administering IP networks
Cisco Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE highly recommended
Extensive hands on experience in the configuration and maintenance of routers, bridges, switches, wifi and firewalls
In depth experience with TCP/IP platforms involving dynamic routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP and their related control protocols
Practical real world experience of heterogeneous networking components along with knowledge of routing/ switching involving VLANs, port-channels, LACP, DHCP, dot1q, spanning tree, multicast, broadcast storm, DoS/DDoS, NAT, GRE, IPSEC, DMVPN, Q-in-Q, ACL, etc.
Excellent working knowledge in the areas of various cloud technologies (VMware/AWS/Azure) including direct peering, high availability, and hybrid design/configuration
Project Management experience a plus
Experience using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to evaluate product and service behaviors
Working experience with troubleshooting tools such as traceroute, dig, tcpdump/snoop, and packet analysis applications
Familiarity with security related Internet information sources such as BugTraq, CERT, CISA, NIST, etc.
Experience with the configuration and administration of both hardware and software based network, firewalls and management appliances such as ISE, FMC, ACS, Meraki, DNA
Experience with Cisco Firepower and FirePower Threat Defence(FTD) Firewalls, Watchguard, Netgear, Aruba, Cisco IOS/Nexus/Catalyst/SF/SG Series/Wireless Controller/Access Point, Brocade, Dell
Experience with Visio creating detailed network diagrams
Working knowledge of Windows/Linux based server and application installation/troubleshooting, hardening based on CIS standards and administration
Strong experience with monitoring and managing monitoring tools (Solarwinds/Zabbix/SCOM/vROps)
Highly proficiency in scripting, automation, orchestration technologies and languages such as Python, Ansible, Terraform
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to analysis and improve on existing systems and architectures
Able to function efficiently in a multi-task environment and work under pressure
Expert communication skills, including the ability to document and demonstrate procedures and processes
A strong team player, strong interpersonal and team building skills
Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, AWS Certifications preferred
Other industry certifications (e.g. Brocade, Aruba, Watchguard) definite assets
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides guidance to less experienced colleague as required
Work Environment:
Working alone on moderately complex systems or with colleagues on larger or more complex systems, produces outline system specifications covering for example: objectives, scope, constraints (such as performance, resources etc.), hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met, and alternatives considered
Working alone or with colleagues, specifies user/system interfaces, including for example: menus, screen dialogues, inputs, reports, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures
