Role Summary A Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing effective, efficient, productive services including provisioning, installation/configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of our company custom-built applications, systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure, implementing, viewing security compliance. Flatirons Solutions IT Services team is responsible for managing the staging & production environments that run on the VMWare ESXi platform with Linux (RHEL, Centos, Ubuntu) and Windows OS servers. The environment consists of physical and virtual servers across multiple data centers in the U.S, Europe, and India. Responsibilities
Deploy and maintain custom built applications including client/server and web application servers.
Install new, or rebuild existing servers, configuring hardware, operating systems, applications, and storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Perform daily system performance monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs and backups.
Apply OS patches per policy, perform upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, as necessary.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Improve and maintain system standards for installation, configuration, and maintenance procedures.
Research, identify and recommend technologies that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale, utilizing automated approaches for system administration tasks
Investigate and troubleshoot service issues and provide root cause analysis.
Implement and support centralized log retention systems.
Perform risk assessments, manage incidents, and implement standards and controls to mitigate or prevent issues from occurring or recurring
Perform and/or participate in technical assessments in direct support of compliance efforts (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, Export Management, etc.)
Define and implement policies and procedures that meet ISO 27001 requirements
Define and implement disaster recovery, business impact analysis, and business continuity plans
Conduct internal auditor training, internal audits, and perform spot checks to test the level of compliance.
Ensure that security requirements are met as mentioned in client agreements and contracts
Respond to client security-related questions in a request for proposals (RFP) and request for information (RFI)
Have an ability to translate compliance and security requirements into implementation.
Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System and Information Security Management System.
Requirements Education/Experience Windows Server 2012, 2016 w/ Active Directory, DNS • Windows Remote Desktop Services • Citrix XenApp / Windows Remote Services • Linux [RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu] administration • NetSuite • VMware ESXi 6.x,
with vCenter administration • SAN Storage [e.g.: Dell Compellent] administration • multi-vendor server hardware support including Dell servers, Compellent SAN, Dell EMC Hyperconverged Platform VxRail •
Cisco firewalls and switches
Ability to document technical systems clearly
Understand and implement solutions such as hardware redundancy, and load balancing.
Implement and secure OSes (Linux, Windows) to NIST and CIS benchmarks and guidelines.
Veeam and/or Backup Exec.
Non-SQL database technologies – XML DB, Elastic Search
Ability to read and understand .Net & Java logs to assist developers to analyze root causes.
Understand and implement ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR (or similar data privacy), Export Management compliance, and process.
Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major such as engineering or computer science, or CIS, or comparable industry experience.
Computer Skills Certifications in Linux, Windows Server, and VMware virtualization is a plus.
Minimum 6+ years’ experience in systems administration with physical, virtual, and hybrid
cloud environments, where adapting, installing, and configuring open-source tools is common.
Experience conducting ISO 27001 internal audits and hosting ISO 27001 external audits preferred
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances.
