In this role, you will:
Support the project initiatives and ensure appropriate level of WebSphere environment support is provided to resolve application / infrastructure issues during the various pre-production and production phases.
Understand and apply standards, best practices to ensure compliance and consistently maintain quality in deliverables.
Comply with the processes in place and ensure the agreed service levels are met with the expected level of quality
Review the processes consistently to implement improvement plans, and to support organization objectives for efficiency.
Ensure high availability of services.
Understand business, environments, shared services to prioritize incidents
Track and resolve WebSphere infrastructure incidents per SLA
Follow best practices while addressing issues
Apply performance monitoring / tuning methodologies to investigate issues reported for WebSphere Application Server.
Understand business requirements and technical specifications
Participate in crisis calls as applicable following the etiquette
Proactively identify problem situations, review the problems, engage associates to plan for investigation and resolution
Own the resolution of problems in hand, demonstrate analytical and problem management skills to drive the resolution and prevent recurrence.
Escalate issues as appropriate.
Sustain quality in delivery and employ appropriate measures for improvement
Ready to work in 24×7 support environment.

Qualifications – External
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
Essential technical skills :
The ideal candidate for this role will have good knowledge of Unix operating systems and commands, basic understanding of databases, LDAP, networking principles, and interoperability, good understanding of the basic concepts of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE), WebSphere architecture, topology, configuration & management.
The associate should be familiar with the essential terminology, be able to relate WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and J2EE, and apply the knowledge for performing basic operations, to assemble/install/manage server-side Java enterprise applications, to configure security, view performance information about server and application components and use problem determination tools and log files to troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of WebSphere Portal server administration, wsadmin scripting, and respective certification is desirable but not mandatory.
