Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Multi-Vendor Support is looking for high-energy and passionate individuals to join our growing Linux Software technical support teams. We provide 24×7 Remote Technical Support to IBM’s Enterprise clients on Linux.
Role and Responsibilities
IBM Linux support works with IBM’s largest clients providing:
Technical and project guidance, defect diagnosis, help with configuration issues, and advice on upgrades
Customer interaction via phone/email with clients to understand and document the problem description for issues which include questions around Linux software usage, errors and best practices
Research, understanding, and advocacy of Linux software and solutions in heterogeneous Enterprise environments
Interaction with relevant Linux support organizations for defect discovery and resolution.
Be a part of the on-call rotation (roughly once a quarter for one week)
You will be working with IBM clients through a combination of electronic interaction and via the telephone.
You will be providing support to IBM’s enterprise clients.
You will be supporting clients who run one of IBM’s supported Linux distributions. These include Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu, RH Virtualization and Sattelite, Sap Hana on SLES etc.
You will be supporting Linux on one of three architectures, x86-64, Power and Limited to Linux on System z.
Every client call results in an opportunity to experience a new learning opportunity, the Linux team maintains a lab environment that includes a number of architectures and virtualization environments as well as products like OpenShift and GlusterFS.
IBM supports our Linux clients utilizing a follow-the-sun model, even with this there is an on-call rotation required. All team members are required to take part in the rotation.
You will learn directly from senior level support engineers and through interaction with Linux escalation teams. The IBM Linux team is highly collaborative, utilizing mentors, active slack channels and team leads who provide guidance on client issues. You will have opportunities for growth and to help define team direction
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 7 years of experience in IT Industry
At least 5 years of relevent experience in managing Linux infrastructure
Strong Knowledge of the Linux OS – Redhat/SUSE/CentOS etc.
Working Knowledge on Microsoft OS, Vmware, Virtualization, Hypervisor’s etc. will be an advantage.
Openshift (EX-280) Certified

Able to research client problems on your own via documentation and lab reproduction
