The Brief
A globally focused shipping and transportation organisation is continuing to drive an ambitious and complex change and transformational programme to deliver a service of excellence for its customers and clients worldwide. The Global CTIO has a mandate from the Maersk board to lead the Technology transformation of Maersk which will enable the Maersk business strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics through digitising the Maersk business processes and customer engagement.

The Network Product Engineering function is pivotal to our transformation, it is a central team within Network Architecture & Engineering, responsible for the delivery of the product roadmaps, technical vision, design build quality and L2-to-resolution in-life operation of network and perimeter platforms, products and capabilities provided to Maersk.
Reporting to the Head of Network Product Engineering, you will serve as an Senior Network Plan & Build Engineer. This role is responsible centrally and locally for the planning, build-out, change and release management of our network, perimeter and underpinning technology infrastructure that provide the physical underlay for over-the-top connectivity products and capabilities provided to Maersk.
It has a critical role to play as we continue to develop our long-term multi-technology and multi-product network and perimeter capabilities, connecting our asset, sites and people on land and at sea. Delivering best in class global connectivity and perimeter services that not only meet the need of our business today but will be a differentiator, enabling our colleagues and partners with technology solutions that are a catalyst for productivity and innovation.
Scope
All data networks provided to Maersk across Enterprise Edge (offices, warehouses, terminals, vessels) and the perimeter services that protect and enable them including but not limited to:

Specific Job Requirements
Perform network planning to ensure appropriate dimensioning, capacity, loading, diversity and parameter configurations, across Enterprise Edge, Network Edge and Cloud Networking domains to meet the target network and perimeter infrastructure build requirements.
Support the release of engineering designs produced by Network Product Engineering to colleagues in Service Design & Delivery and into major cross technology programmes including quality measurements, engineering amendments and driving best practice.
Support any live queries from Network Delivery Managers and Technical Project Managers during build to ensure we scale out our network and perimeter infrastructure to time, cost and quality.
Work with Network Product Engineering peers, portfolio and service delivery teams to define the implementation roadmap, and scope plan and build sprints to deliver faster business outcomes across all network consumption domains.
Maintain accurate records of network topology and network inventory and ensure capacity is made available to support the needs of the business.
Work across Network Product Engineering to continually identify and implement improvements across the planning process operation, to ensure that business objectives and outcomes are in lockstep with strategic goals.

Lead the CAB (Change Advisory Board) and ECAB (Emergency Change Advisory Board) process for all network and perimeter change requests, providing assessment from both a business and technical perspective.
Calculate the risks associated with change and present stakeholders with evidence and supporting documentation on why the risk is or isn’t worth taking, including the benefits of the change or the reasons for rejecting it.
Prioritize and schedule change requests; communicate outcomes by creating documentation of the evaluation of changes irrespective of them being a success, failure, or pending.
Take responsibility for continuous improvement initiatives in the change enablement process, maintain standards for change, monitor progress and provide feedback.
Assess release readiness of network, perimeter and underpinning technology infrastructure and software using both manual and automated validation methods.
Maintainin, analyse and extend our release validation framework across physical infrastructure, virtual infrastructure and the software stack of network elements including the element managers themselves.
Ensure the successful incremental plan, build and release management of the current capability stack while modernizing and transforming to enable the future strategy.
Regularly provide a transparent view of plan, build and release management commitments.
What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities?
Network Plan & Build – Leading the network and perimeter plan, build and release cycle. Ensuring the right resources are deployed and scaled at the right time in the right place at the right cost to underpin all connectivity services across Core, Edge and Cloud:
Ownership of the plan, build and release processes and oversight of the delivery of these processes. Ensuring new build, scaleout and upgrade requirements are optimised and cost justified
Apply knowledge of existing network and perimeter capacity to directly influence its deployment and scaleout
Management of design change implementation to support the build
End-to-End ownership of the network and perimeter planning cycle in line with business priorities, including design integration, field work where appropriate e.g. site visits and detailed site design and approval; production of Method Statements and Risk Assessments
Engage closely with the Delivery Managers and implementation resorces, to create a deliverable and cost effective plans
Lead the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency Change Advisory Board (ECAB for all network and perimeter changes, ensure all stakeholders are informed and can make decisions on approval / rejections
Conduct and verify post-implementation reviews. Ensure lessons learned from the changes are implemented as required.
Ensure continuous optimisation and improvement of network and perimeter change management including production of high quality reports, dashboards and manage associated actions
The Candidate
To be considered for this opportunity candidates will have the following capabilities.
A demonstrable track record operating as a Network and Perimeter subject matter expert with 10+ years’ experience in engineering, operations and planning within a multi-vendor and or multi-MSP production environments in a globally focused business
Extensive experience of executing network infrastructure build and release management within a Systems Integrator, Service Provider, Network Technology Vendor or Multi-National Corporation
Professional knowledge and expertise using multi-layer heterogeneous network design & planning tools and understanding how a design is critical to a successful build
Proven experience of defining and maintaining standards, planning and policy development
Solid knowledge in networks and the supporting ecosystem, experienced in engaging on network topics at all levels internally and externally:
Traditional – Routing & Switching, Internet Access (DIA | BIA), 4G/LTE FWA, IP/MPLS, GEO Satelite Access, Ethernet, WDM, IPSec, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Web Proxies, WANOp, NTP/PTP and DDI
Next-generation – NAC, Micro-Segmentation, LEO Satelite Access, 5G FWA, 5G Private Networks, NFV, SDN, SD-WAN, NGFW, SSE, SIEM
Virtual Infrastructure –Openstack, KVM, LXC, Kubernetes, VMWare and Docker
Experience with networks and perimeter capacity planning, familiarity with network capacity or cost modelling alongside solid analytical skills with experience of extracting and analysing large data sets
Extensive experience of working in an ITIL aligned IT operational environment
Experience of leading and operating an IT Change Management function
ITIL 4 Advanced Qualification or ITIL V3 Expert, ITIL V2 Practitioner certification
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels and experience of customer-focused service delivery
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a can-do attitude with a growth mindset
