Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. Your career here will have a positive impact on people’s lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.
We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.
The team you’ll be part of
As Nokia’s growth engine, we create value for communication service providers and enterprise customers by leading the transition to cloud-native software and as-a-service delivery models. Our inclusive team of dreamers, doers and disruptors push the limits from impossible to possible.
Nokia Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING) is a managed service offering seamless IoT Connectivity as a Service across technologies and geographical borders. WING is essentially a MVNE connected to multiple partner CSPs serving multiple enterprises and IoT industry verticals. Its IoT business model relies on these multiple customers sharing common infrastructure. As a consequence, support for multiple tenants in shared private/public cloud infrastructure is key to achieving WING business goals.
What you will learn and contribute to
Role Title: WING Cloud and Network Architecture – Solution Architect
Overview / Purpose of the Role:
A Solution Architect is accountable for defining end-to-end solutions that meet customer requirements for new services to be supported by WING. Such services are made up from a combination of Nokia and third-party VNFs/CNFs, meet all technical, commercial and operational requirements, fit appropriately into existing Core/BSS/OSS environments, are easy to deploy/operate/expand/retire, are appropriately documented and deliver the right balance of quality against time and cost.
Key to the role is the ability to create a customer and site agnostic blueprint of any new service to allow repeat deployment for other customers at minimal time and cost. End-to-end means covering the Core, BSS and OSS aspects of the solution including all the functional and non-functional parts (where the latter includes, but is not restricted to scalability, intra and inter site resilience, support for multiple tenants and service lifecycle management).
The successful candidate will be a key member of the WING Cloud and Network Architecture Team delivering new services and blueprints thereof to allow multiple deployments of the same services for specific customers in specific regions meeting specific service level agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with WING Product Management to design and build new services in accordance with customer requirements and the WING Product Release Roadmap.
Perform initial impact assessments of requests for new services or changes to existing services. Once prioritized perform a detailed analysis of the requirements and design services that will meet them.
Ensure these new services are fit for purpose both in terms of their functional and non-functional requirements.
Ensure all new and existing services are optimized to minimize cost whilst maintaining the quality required to consistently meet operational SLAs. Such optimisations include (but are not limited to) support for multiple tenants on shared infrastructure, ease of deployment, expansion and operability and regular review to ensure the components that make up these services remain ‘best of breed’.
Create and maintain customer and site agnostic service blueprints which describe services in detail hence can be easily adapted to site specific High Level Designs for specific customer onboardings.
Guide the authors of HLDs, LLDs, test and acceptance plans and review all outputs for coverage and quality.
Guide the Component Owners to manage the capacity and lifecycle of their component.
Ensure appropriate processes and tools are in place to manage the capacity and performance of new services and oversee successful transition through operational acceptance to go-live.
Engage with appropriate Nokia stakeholders together with external standards bodies and industry forums to keep abreast of industry trends and best practice.
Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field
8+ years experience designing, delivering and supporting end-to-end solutions deployed in both private and public cloud infrastructure
Extensive knowledge and experience of 2/3/4G access technologies and BSS both from technical and operational viewpoints
Deep understanding of OSS integration and the tools to support fault and performance management of services deployed in both private and public cloud infrastructure
Experience of setting up and managing hosted environments comprising a mix of and cloud and bare metal components from in-house and 3rd party vendors to deliver services under an “as-a Service” model
Knowledge of MVNO/MVNE models and partner MNO integration options
Knowledge of 5G NR and 5GC including migration options desirable
Knowledge of BSS Evolution towards Digital IoT desirable
Knowledge of other IoT access technologies like Sigfox/LoRa desirable
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complex end-to-end solutions to a wide range of stakeholders with differing skill sets
Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering high quality deliverables
Educational Requirement:
Educated to degree level or equivalent backed by relevant industry experience
