Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job

Supports demand management in the ideation phase and early stages of IM projects

Ensures compliance with strategy, policy, guidelines, and existing (technical) architecture

Ensures quality,consistency and operational supportability of deployments

Maintains market knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies in own area of expertise

Proactively seeks continuous business and service improvement opportunities (cost and performance)

Promotes the role and relevance of Solution Architecture in the business

Identifies opportunities to build cross-functional working relationships including with external parties

Responsibilities

Creates and maintains a holistic solution architecture for Nouryon’s data platform. Creates project specific architecture solutions and designs in accordance with the enterprise architecture guidelines.

Follows the right governance to get new Solution Architecture designs aligned with and approved by Nouryon Enterprise Architects. The Solution Architect Data & Analytics must remain at all times closely aligned with the Nouryon Enterprise Architects on the choice of applications, the sources of data and the underlying infrastructure.

Works with vendors to define solution architectures and oversees the vendors’ work. Contributes to vendor governance by participating in CABs, design reviews, and exception management processes. Ensures that the vendor teams remain within the boundaries as described in the approved solution architectures.

Supports business teams with technical expertise on the development and operation of data driven solutions.

Helps define standards,guidelines and best practices for the Data Platform (SAP BW / SAC / DWC, Azure Data Foundation, PowerBI) and ensures adherence to them

Acts as a knowledge and expertise hub of the Data Platform and their architecture

Ensures that Quality standards are met and maintained for all solutions in the responsibility area of the Data Platform.

Maintains Thought Leadership on Data & Analytics, e.g. by following developments in SAP / Microsoft support and innovation agenda. Takes initiatives to experiment with digital & data innovations. Shares knowledge with the Nouryon CoE team and the Nouryon business stakeholders

Preferably working experience in a similar role in a company like Nouryon.

High standard of personal and interpersonal leadership.

Education: university degree (pref software engineering, computer science) with a keen interest in data technology.

Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience.

Experience in (agile) IT project implementation and change management process.

Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new trends and technologies, especially in the SAP / Microsoft ecosystems.

Business process modelling and application architecture design (logical and physical) – frameworks (UML), tools, technologies, methodologies.

Data Analytics & Modelling – Draws accurate inferences from analyzing data; makes effective use of tools and technology to analyze data; understands and effectively uses modelling concepts to design logical inter-relationships of data and has knowledge of how data is stored retrieved and represented

Act as sparring partner for DevOps teams in refinement – or team sessions

Deliver Solution Directions for assigned User Stories, creating visual diagrams and proposals

Taking ownership of structural challenges which cannot be solved operationally and require a more fundamental, structured, analytical approach

Other requirements

Willingness to travel internationally from time to time as part of the role (eg Netherlands, US)
